Bury some things outside and then use a paintbrush, old toothbrush, or stick to uncover and remove them!
Put together a bag of "garbage". Have your littlest ones organize by size or type of object. Your older kids can make inferences about the person who made the garbage.
Find some interesting objects, imagine what someone in 1,000 years might think they are.
Build a family time capsule. Find a shoe box and put some things that represent your family inside. You could even right a letter to the person who finds it in the future.
