Task

You have heard of a car wash but what about a rock wash? Offer your child a bowl of water, sponges, washcloths, old toothbrushes, etc. Talk to your child about the differences in a dry vs. wet rock. Does it look different now that it is clean?

Collect some rocks together and bring them home. Sort the rocks by size, shape, color or texture. Do it again!

Create shapes on the ground using rocks! You can make a straight line, circle, spiral, heart, etc.

Go on a rock scavenger hunt. Find a rock that is very small, one with stripes, one that is brown, one that is grey, etc.

Find the best rock and make it your pet this summer! Name your rock, decide what it likes to eat, what sort of habitat does it need?
