Sing a song, any song, with your pre-reader.
Sing a nursery rhyme…they often have language that we don’t use in everyday conversation, so you’re building vocabulary and context as well.
Try a fingerplay, such as The Itsy Bitsy Spider, and do the motions while you sing.
Have a dance party…The Hokey Pokey is easy to sing and a fun movement song.
